If you are seriously looking for a business headshot in Los Angeles, photographer Aaron Gil of FotoNuova says to make sure you have the right style portrait created that speaks to your type of client.  “Often people think that a portrait is a portrait.”, Aaron says.  “However, this could not be further from reality.  Stop and consider what is the ultimate goal of this portrait?  More than likely the goal of your business portrait should be to either attract clients or convey that you are an open, friendly and a real person.”

Although a portrait can be created by virtually anyone, Aaron advises that serious professionals that want to make an impact with their portrait, hire a professional photographer that specializes in business head shots.  “Really, hiring someone who specializes in these portraits is the best way to get the most personality and warmth out of someone”, said Aaron.  “There is a big difference between a photo of someone and a portrait that captures all of your personality.  You only have split seconds for your portrait to make an impact with a potential client.  They either will see that they can want to work with you or not.  Why take a chance?”

Aaron creates both studio and natural light headshots in Los Angeles, Pasadena and surrounding areas in Southern California.  Most of his clients prefer for Aaron to go out on location to either their business office or a list of preferred locations that Aaron often uses.  “We’ve created beautiful studio portraits in small conference rooms or an office lobby.”, said Aaron.  “For these type of portraits, a client may want a traditional solid backdrop or perhaps a more involved portrait that can include incorporating their office environment.  In addition to professionally lit studio portraits, our specialty is creating on location portraits using natural light.”

Aaron uses a variety of complimentary poses and provides his clients with a list of suggested clothing to help make his clients look their best.  “I’m often asked by clients that they want to look slimmer and younger.”, says Aaron.  “I uses posing and clothing to aid with the appearance of being slimmer.  I use lighting that’s complimentary to help wrinkles and blemishes look less prominent.”  Photoshop is the tool of most professionals these days.  Photoshop can be used to retouch and create an overall color and contrast tone for your portrait.  “Our basic business headshot service includes; blemish removal, lighten wrinkles, teeth whitening and stray hair removal.” said Aaron.

Business portraits take as little as 10 minutes for clients that only need one final portrait, to as much as an hour for clients that need multiple portraits with clothing changes.

Aaron Gil of FotoNuova is a business headshot photographer based out of Pasadena and servicing all of Metro Los Angeles.  Call 626-588-2445 today to find out more about creating your business headshot.

Not sure if you should consider updating your business headshot?

    business headshot los angeles

If you are unsure, the answer is yes.  The main function of your business portrait is to attract new business. The best way to attract new clients is to convey trust and likability.  People do business with those they like and trust.

If your business portrait is dated on appearance be it with an old style of clothing, an old hair style or an old styled background, it’s time to update it.  A business portrait should be warm, fresh and inviting.  It should show vibrancy and life in the eyes as they are the gateway to the soul.

I challenge you to take a visit on LinkedIn and click on the “People You May Know” section.  Scroll down and ignore all of the photos that seem to be unprofessional snapshots or taken with a cell phone.  Try to identify the professional portraits.

Of those professional portraits, try to determine if you would do business with them.  To they convey warmth and trust?  Are they smiling or look uncomfortable?  Does the style of portrait look dated or modern?

A good portrait should look modern, fresh and warm.  It should be inviting and attractive.  You have only but a few seconds to gain your clients trust on the web.  Without your prospective client reading about your story, you should tell them who you are with a portrait that only takes a few seconds to convey that message.

At FotoNuova, we work with our clients to create the right style and looks for their portraits.  We help with everything from clothing suggestions, helping you feel at ease through the shoot and retouching.  We do not stop photographing until the client feels we have the right portrait.

Create your warm, fresh and inviting business headshot for 2015 and call us today for an appointment:  626-588-2445

As a photographer that specializes in business portraits, we get this question very often here at the studio; “What should I wear for my portrait?”  I always respond by thanking them for their question as what you wear is so very important for what you would like to reflect in your portrait.
My response is always, wear what best reflects your personality and how you envision yourself in your industry.  If it’s formal and conservative, wear elegant suits, silk blouses or dress shirts for men.  Dress as if you are going to an important business meeting.
If you and your industry is more relaxed and informal, wear a pair of nice dark jeans, pretty blouse and blazer.  Dress as if you are taking a client out to lunch on casual Friday
Now, there are items of clothing that are complementary to the body and complexion, then there are types of clothing that work against us.  My recommendation is to wear dark solids.  Dark solids always help with making the body appear slimmer.
Stay away from stripes, patterns, plaids, prints, logos or lettering.  These patterns tend to distract the viewer whereas solid colors tend to isolate faces and keep you as the focus of the portrait.  Primary red and primary blue tend to cast funny colors onto face so I would suggest to stay away from these colors as well.  Both these colors as well as fluorescent also tend to be dominant forces in portraits.  We don’t want anything competing with you!  One does not always have to be overly concerned with wearing matching tops and bottoms.  Coordinating colors and finding colors that complement each other is very important.
Instead of matching, try to pick two simple colors that coordinate well with each other. When in doubt, dark solids are always the way to go!  At FotoNuova, we suggest that our clients bring along 3 to 4 outfits and we will help them select the best one for their warm and friendly business portrait!

2014 is among us!  Time for new habits, new outlooks and reinvigorated business fervor!  I know I have been veraciously working on making changes and adjustments to my business for 2014.  Chances are that you are too.

One of the simplest yet most effective changes one can make, is to have a professional business portraits created.  It helps to build trust to prospective clients and it shows that you are serious about your business.  Not to mention, social media marketing is king in today’s world.  Having a snapshot on your Linked in account from your vacation in Hawaii last summer is just not going to cut it with today’s clients!

It’s all about trust nowadays and what better way than to show prospective clients that you are not someone to be leery about?  Whether you are a real estate professional, attorney, independent contractor or freelance artist, you need a social media presence to survive in today’s business climate. Trouble is, in these days, every business has a social media account.

One way to make your online presence stand out from others is with a simple studio portrait.  Stop using those snapshots and show your potential clients that you mean business with a simple studio portrait.  They are simple and affordable and say so much about you and your business.

For those that don’t have a business, 2014 may be a year that you want to get that promotion or that new job.  How better of way than to differentiate yourself from the competition?  Show everyone that you are serious about your skills and abilities!  Show them that you are available and are ready to tackle the job!

Take advantage of our weekday “Simple Studio Portrait for Professionals” .  Come to the studio where we will capture that one stunning portrait you need.  Then, relax at the studio while we enhance your portrait and shortly after we will send you off with a disk containing all of your high resolution portrait.

I was thinking, “Let’s just get this over with.” But I was thrilled with the results I was left with. I would definitely work with Aaron again and I would recommend him to anyone who’s in need of Head Shots or Business Portraits.

I honestly get compliments from my fellow realtors on my Business Headshot. Which actually says alot. 5 stars for sure.”  Edward L.
